Heading to San Francisco

Today, Friday, June 17, we said good-bye to Reno.  First, though, we met at the Circus Circus parking log to get a group picture of the cars and people who traveled as part of Rallye to Reno.
Rallye to Reno participants just before we leave Reno
The weather as usual was good for traveling.  In fact, it was cold after leaving Reno such that I was wearing 2 jackets.  We followed US Hwy 50 from Carson City into California.  We traveled along the southern end of Lake Tahoe.  Another picture of that beautiful area.
That's Trip's car ahead as we pass along the southern shores of Lake Tahoe
We also spent time fixing a fuel line problem on Trip's car.  Another successful roadside fix!
That's our butt shot of the day - Ron, Dennis, Trip
And here we are in San Francisco.  This picture was taken on Treasure Island with the Bay Bridge and downtown San Francisco in the background.
That's me and the car (with Trip & Georgia's car in front)

Here are today's pictures on Snapfish:

  1. Dennis is also in line for the Ray-Ban 'Get me those Rays' Award - Well done Dennis!

Like the cowboys crossing the highway, neat, something you don't see everyday.

Breakdowns? How odd. Must be the way you guys fix 'em, over here we never breakdown on the highway. Hey, why is my nose getting bigger?

Another picture and guess where they are? no prizes, in a bar!

San Francisco a town I called home for a couple of years. Great place. Mark Twain said that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in SF. Very true but it is great.

Alactraz. Can picture the tear in Ron's eye thinking of good times when he called it home. Did they let you keep the birds? You never said Ron.

The Oakland Bay Bridge, remember it well, one deck into SF other deck, the lower out, just to get you in the right mood for Oakland.

Envying you this bit. Want lots of pictures. If you take the cars you must do a kitsch shot on Lombard St.

BTW There are Dennys at Beach, Mission & Geary so no excuses!

Hope you get up to Grace Cathedral where I used to go while it was being constructed! Lived near the top of Clay and also Washington just off Jones. Walked to school in Marina down Van Ness. That was the first time I saw the welcoming sign on the school fence 'No guns or knives allowed', makes me kind of tearful, sweet young days.

Near Grace is the Huntingdon Hotel, Diamond Jim Brady's. You are going to do the Top of the Mark - that is a statement. Then there is the Brocklebank Apartments used in quite a few films .... no wonder I caught the architecture bug!! Great usable buildings on a human scale. Down the hill to Chinatown perhaps ..... Enjoy and do make sure you have a clear memory card for pictures!

  2. It has been fun following your journey. I love all of the pictures, especially of Lake Tahoe. John and I loved it when we were in Reno and we also visited the car museum.

You made it to the other side of the ocean and we hope to follow you back home.

  3. Hi Kathleen - thanks for following us. When I get home I'll have to figure out how to turn this blog and pictures into a book like Teresa did.

Hi Mike - You and Denny's. We didn't make it to eat there but when I took the picture of the Denny's sign we did go in the restaurant but the service was so bad and surly that we left and went across the parking lot to a different restaurant. So, you see, we tried.
