Today's driving weather was on the cool side most all day long. It was 60+ degrees until about lunch time. We traveled across Kansas, crossed in the Mountain Time Zone, and then was welcomed into Colorful Colorado per the sign at the state line. Boy, was that right. Kansas was dull colored and then almost as soon as we crossed into Colorado there were trees, green fields, and off in the hazy distance there were mountains.

Got lots of pictures to share from today's ride across Colorado and our visits around Canon City, CO, at Royal Gorge Bridge and Skyline Drive:

After checking into our hotel in Canon City, CO, we visited Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. We took the tram across the gorge above the Arkansas River. Then we rode the vertical tram down to the bottom of the gorge right at the level of the Arkansas River. It was a raging river due to the fast winter snow melt that the local newspaper explained was unusual. Then we drove the MG over the bridge to the other side of the gorge and back again. We stopped in the middle of the bridge for a few moments and you could feel the car be kind of raised up as the big winds came rushing down the gorge across the bridge.

After that we drove Skyline Drive. How unusual. It was free and the vistas were amazing. It is a narrow one lane road on the very tip top of a ridge paralleling US Hwy 50 way down below. You can see all of Canon City on one side and the highway on the other side of the road. The road is one way with tiny turnouts to pull over to take in the views and take pictures. It was exciting!

Like the pictures of the gorge. May see about re-arranging the rockery later on today.
What sort of person stops their car, an MG especially, on a bridge over a deep gorge with the wind funnelling down?? You know the first sign of insanity if checking for hair on your palms - don't bother looking just get a razor your palms need shaving!! Nuts.
Nice bunch of cows, sure is home on the range country. Which one did Ron think was the prettiest? I like the ..... can't write much more as must get a moovon ...
Great shots of the gorge, noted the 'royal', and that cable car! Wow. That freeway at the end looked a bit strange - are you sure the SatNav is working okay!
Looking forward to more!
